“When you create work when you’re “in it” there is rarely an explainable logic. It is more instinct than thought, lots of things happening at once. When I started to shoot fashion and portraiture I was often in awe of these kids, most were still teenagers who had been everywhere in the world and done everything, I thought about myself at that age, I had rarely left my village and done nothing, I thought about doing nothing and listening to Duran Duran and I thought about the incredible silver prints of Irving Penn but most of all I thought about just how beautiful it
